Lisa Levey is a nationally recognized expert on diversity, women’s advancement and work-life integration, working with leading employers to create work cultures that enable individuals and organizations to thrive. Recently Levey consulted to the United Nations on the development of a work-life strategy for UN Women (launched in 2011), the UN entity focused on gender equality and the empowerment of women around the globe. Since 2008 she has led the New York City Bar diversity benchmarking research. Formerly, Levey was a senior director at Catalyst, the leading research and advisory organization working to build inclusive work environments and expand opportunities for women at work. At Catalyst Levey led the employee network practice, spearheaded the development and delivery of a work-life training program for senior leaders and managers, and co-authored the Making Change: Beyond Flexibility series. Levey also spent several years at WFD Consulting (formerly Work/Family Directions) and was one of the founders of its women's advancement practice. She has led global client engagements across a wide range of industries and professions; some of her clients have included the Campbell Soup Company, Dow Chemical, Exxon Mobil, Johnson & Johnson, IBM and the Icelandic Ministry of Trade & Industry.
Levey has been quoted in many publications including the New York Times, the Boston Globe, Business Week and Real Simple magazine. She and her husband Bryan have been featured in Fast Company magazine and on ABC News with Charlie Gibson in stories about a partnership approach to parenting and professional work.
Before moving into the organizational development field, Ms. Levey spent several years in the investment industry in research and portfolio management roles. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, with distinction, from Cornell University and a Masters of Business Administration, with highest honors, from the Simmons College School of Management. She is a graduate of the Women Unlimited LEAD program, a year-long leadership development program for women in business. Levey lives with her husband, sons, and her Shetland Sheepdog in the Boston area. In addition to writing, she fulfills her creative drive by dabbling in painting, creating mosaics and chronicling family travel adventures.
